Tempest Presets
Tempest Presets - Installation Instructions
Included with my world downloads are tempest presets which can be installed into your save game to allow for gameplay in weather conditions that match the real-world locations that have inspired my worlds. To do this, the following two nraas mods are required:
In short, overwatch is required to install the preset, and tempest is required to run it.
Step 1
Find the tempest preset included with the world download, for my worlds it will be titled Tempest_[Location].package, I will be using Khan Steppe for this tutorial, so Tempest_Mongolia.package.
Once you've found this file, move it from your download folder to your Library folder. This is located under Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 3 > Library.
You're now ready to load up your target world in-game, do this as usual.
Step 2
Using the city hall rabbit hole, or computer, select nraas...Select Immediate...
Select Import Settings...
Select Tempest...
Select the preset you want to install, in this case Tempest_Mongolia...
Step 3
Once the current simulated weather cycle is complete, the new preset will take full effect and you can enjoy your new climate :)
You may need to check that the preset is enabled by going to Tempest > Weather > Fall/Spring/Summer/Winter > Default, and making sure enabled is switched to "True". I have never found this to be necessary, but if you do it will need to be repeated/checked for each season.
Finish
Whenever you wish to return to the Sims 3 default climate settings, simply go into Tempest>Total Reset>Accept and your settings should return to normal. If they do not, a Tempest_Default.package file is included with my world downloads which can be installed following the above instructions to force Tempest to return to default settings.
